Vintage Japanese Geisha Odori ‘Maiogi' Folding Dance Fan from Kyoto: Design JULD
This lovely Maiogi Dance Fan
came from a well known Odori Dance School in Gion and was probably owned by one of the students and stored there for some time… the date on the bamboo strut says "the first year of Heisei 1987"...
Design:
It has lovely gold streaks on an orange background with the character
“
yorokobu"
喜 and is
gold-flecked white on a on the back with natural bamboo struts.
Condition:
It is sturdy and sound with no signs of use or wear of any kind. See photos for details. It looks almost new and could be used
for either dance practice or display…
The first 2 photos show both sides of the fan - please examine them carefully before making your purchase to be sure you are happy with the condition of the item. We carefully price our vintage items based on their quality and condition.
It measures about 18” or 46cm from tip to tip when open and is 11” or about 28cm long when closed.

Note that due to reduced flights, JAPAN POST has suspended Air Parcel service to the USA, Australia and a few other countries (Europe is not effected). It is not known how long this will last but in the meantime, we are using JAPAN POST SURFACE mail which has tracking and insurance but can take about 60 days to the USA.
Alternatively, for an additional charge, YAMATO INTERNATIONAL offers extremely fast door to door service for a flat-rate for their various size boxes. The smallest “60cm” box is to most countries, can hold up to two kg and measures 27 X 19 X 19cm and arrives in about a week.
