Vintage Japanese Geisha Odori ‘Maiogi' Folding Dance Fan from Kyoto: Design S
This is a professional Maiogi Dance Fan and was made by
one of Kyoto’s traditional fan makers. It has probably never been used as it is in perfect condition in the original box. It came from a well known Odori Dance School in Gion and was stored there for some time. It is sturdy and sound without any structural issues or discoloration and looks new except fot one very slightly dog-eared corner and a lightly written signature at the lower edge.
It is for either dance use or for display…
It is metalic gold and gradated orange with a cloud design and black glossy, lacqured bamboo struts. It measures about 20” or 52cm from tip to tip when open and is 12” or about 30cm long when closed. Excellent quality! Stunning design!

Note that due to reduced flights, JAPAN POST has suspended Air Parcel service to the USA, Australia and a few other countries (Europe is not effected). It is not known how long this will last but in the meantime, we are using JAPAN POST SURFACE mail which has tracking and insurance but can take about 60 days to the USA.
Alternatively, for an additional charge, YAMATO INTERNATIONAL offers extremely fast door to door service for a flat-rate for their various size boxes. The smallest “60cm” box is to most countries, can hold up to two kg and measures 27 X 19 X 19cm and arrives in about a week.
