Vintage Japanese Geisha Odori ‘Maiogi' Folding Dance Fan from Kyoto: Design E
This is a professional Maiogi Dance Fan and was made by

Onishi Kyosendo,
one of Kyoto’s most famous traditional fan makers. It has probably never been used and is in the original box and wrapping. It came from a well known Odori Dance School in Gion and was stored there for 20 years or more. It is still sturdy and sound without any structural issues and has a slight patina of age to it.

It is a  slightly yellowish, off-white with colorful metalic flakes and black lacqured bamboo struts. It measures about 20” or 52cm from tip to tip when open and is 12” or about 30cm long when closed. Excellent quality! It would have been quite expensive when new
…
There is slight discoloration where the struts pass through the paper so we are selliing this as a ‘vintage' fan rather than as a ’new’ one. We have taken that into consideration in the price. See photos for other details...

Note that due to reduced flights, JAPAN POST has suspended Air Parcel service to the USA, Australia and a few other countries (Europe is not effected). It is not known how long this will last but in the meantime, we are using JAPAN POST SURFACE mail which has tracking and insurance but can take about 60 days to the USA.
Alternatively, for an additional charge, YAMATO INTERNATIONAL offers extremely fast door to door service for a flat-rate for their various size boxes. The smallest “60cm” box is to most countries, can hold up to two kg and measures 27 X 19 X 19cm and arrives in about a week.
Note that as these measures are temporary, we can not change the existing rates for all of our hundreds of listings but will notify you immediately if it effects your purchase.
