13-INCH VINTAGE AMER. CHARACTER TONI SOPHISTICATE DRESSED VERY STYLISHLY

From my own collection is this 13-inch Toni Sophisticate fashion doll made by American Character in the late 1950s.  She is living up to her name in this very tailored and sophisticated outfit, which is not original to her.  The coat dress is made of what I believe is worsted wool (very nice fabric) and features three large silver buttons for the front closure, pale chartreuse piping around the collar, cuffed three-quarter sleeves and an inverted pleat for back detail.  Could not decide whether this was a factory item or handmade, but one day I happened to see one just like it for sale on this site.  Still don't know what doll it was original to, but I do now know that it is factory made.  I added the thin leather black belt and gave her a black vinyl shoulder strap purse to carry.  It is weighted with coins to make it hang better, but you will have to add your own or decide that you don't need the weight.  The awesome black straw hat with grosgrain band and short streamers in back is a Madame Alexander hat, but I don't know what doll it goes to.  It has the gold elastic band tucked inside.  Toni wears white soft linen-like panties that button in the back, vintage seamed stockings, and black high heels with slightly relaxed elastic.  She has her original pearl earrings.  I think some of the luster may be missing.  Toni has a clean body with joints at the head, shoulders, waist, and hips.  She is all vinyl.  Her blue sleep eyes are clear and work well.  She has a good amount of her original cheek color left.  The camera sees a small area on her right cheek where the color has faded, but not noticeable just looking at her.  She has light brown rooted hair with all plugs there.  She is really eye-catching on display, and I have enjoyed her immensely.  The 13-inch Toni is harder to find than her 10-1/2 inch sister.  Toni comes from a smoke-free home and is being offered to USA MAINLAND BIDDERS ONLY.
